History
of the Les Roches Blanches hotel

Built in 1956, the Hotel Les Roches Blanches in Porto-Vecchio began its journey primarily as a restaurant, complemented by additional accommodation. Proudly rooted in its Corsican heritage, this building was meticulously constructed from traditional stone. It quickly gained a distinguished reputation for its delectable seafood cuisine, particularly its fish and lobster specialities.

As demand increased, the establishment underwent a transformation to meet the needs of its clients. The resident owners gradually transformed the hotel to accommodate more visitors. However, in 1993, for family reasons, the hotel unfortunately had to cease operations.

It was not until 2006 that the destiny of the Hotel Les Roches Blanches took a new turn. Noëlle and Patrick Benedetti purchased the hotel, initiating an intense phase of restoration work. This process of modernisation and compliance upgrades allowed the hotel to be reborn, reopening its doors in August 2006.

In 2008, to better meet customer demand, a series of renovation works was undertaken. The hotel's capacity was further increased in 2015 when two additional floors were added, providing around ten extra rooms and bringing the total capacity to nearly 30 rooms. During this renovation, balconies were added to all rooms to enhance guests' comfort.

Since 2017, Amélie, the couple's daughter, and her husband Michaël, have been involved in managing the hotel. Amélie, with her MBA in hotel management and her experience in Canada in the "luxury client" service of a major coffee brand, is now the assistant manager of the hotel. Michaël, having lived in Canada since the age of 12 and having gained extensive experience in luxury hospitality, also contributes to the management.

The couple is constantly striving to enhance the hotel's brand image and customer services, aiming to create a family-friendly, professional, and peaceful environment. They are particularly attentive to their guests' satisfaction, offering personalised service to help them explore the area and plan their stay.

Intimately linked to the history of the salt marshes, Hotel Les Roches Blanches enjoys a privileged position on their fringe. These former saltworks, now designated as Natura 2000 and ZNIEFF areas, bear witness to the rich past of Porto-Vecchio, long nicknamed the "City of Salt". The spectacle offered by these wetlands, where the Gulf of Porto-Vecchio intermingles with the watercourse, is marked by an exceptional endemic biodiversity. Glasswort and other halophyte plants populate the channels, mudflats, cobiers, and salt pans, characteristic infrastructures of salt production. Herons and seagulls find refuge here, bringing this natural scene to life. The small dilapidated houses, silent witnesses to past activities, tell the story of the salt workers' families who, for generations, braved the elements to collect the white gold. Today, the salt marshes of Porto-Vecchio offer a setting of tranquillity and serenity to the hotel guests, reminding us of the unbreakable link between man and nature.

In addition to its historical commitment, the hotel Les Roches Blanches is also environmentally committed. Various measures have been implemented, such as energy saving, waste reduction, the installation of solar panels for water heating, and the introduction of state-of-the-art air conditioners. With hygiene in mind, all floors are tiled, without any carpet.

The Les Roches Blanches hotel is thus an establishment where tradition and modernity blend, providing guests with a warm and friendly place, with particular attention given to environmental respect and the history of the region.
